Allwyn Taps Gaming Veteran David Craven as CEO in Bid for National Lottery Control
17.06.2024
A report from Sky News reveals that Allwyn, the organization vying for control of the National Lottery, is bringing on a new chief executive. Their selection is David Craven, a seasoned professional in the gambling and gaming sector, with a history at prominent companies like The Tote and World Gaming. Allwyn, a subsidiary of the Czech lottery powerhouse Sazka, evidently views Craven’s digital proficiency as a significant advantage in their pursuit of securing the upcoming National Lottery permit.
The Gambling Commission is poised to determine later this year whether to remain with the incumbent operator, Camelot, or introduce change by transferring management to a new entity. Allwyn is making a concerted effort, recently designating Sir Keith Mills, the driving force behind London 2012, as the chairman of their bid. They have also enlisted other industry heavyweights such as former Sainsbury’s CEO Justin King and Lastminute.com co-founder Brent Hoberman.
Craven appears prepared for the task, stating: “The National Lottery holds greater significance than ever before. My focus is on leveraging technology to enhance the experience for patrons, regardless of whether they are participating in a retail setting or online. It’s about ensuring the games are enjoyable and engaging, while simultaneously utilizing technology to prioritize player safety.”
